SOCIAL CRISIS SERVICE

Offers telephone contact with an experienced staff member for people experiencing a non-medical crisis. They will listen to you, talk with you and give support, information and advice.

 

MIDLOTHIAN IN MIND

Work with service users and providers to develop services throughout Midlothian e.g. complimentary therapies project in Penicuik and support group in Dalkeith.

 

ART THERAPIES PROJECT

By offering feasibility studies and awareness raising events we highlight the benefits of the Arts Therapies (e.g. art, dance, movement and music therapy).

 

 

 

HOW DO I ACCESS THESE SERVICES?

 

Self referrals and referrals by supporters e.g. CPN, GP, Social Worker, carer, friends etc. are welcomed. Initial visits whether at home or in the Centre will be discussed.

 

THE ORCHARD CENTRE has a long and successful history of providing good quality services to people living in the Midlothian area who are experiencing mental health difficulties.

 

 

 

SOCIAL CRISIS SERVICE

 

WHO IS THE SOCIAL CRISIS SERVICE FOR?

 

This service may be of benefit to those adults who:

 

•    Suffer from social isolation

•    Need help in managing their levels of anxiety

•    Have difficulty managing their day-to-day livea

  Are experiencing a social crisis which needs immediate advice / action

  People in need of support over a maximum period of 3 days. If additional  

   support is required, referrals will be made to other services

 

WHAT DOES THE SERVICE PROVIDE?

 

The Service is designed to provide telephone contact with an experienced staff member for people with a mental health difficulty who are experiencing a non-medical crisis. Staff will listen to, talk with and support the caller, they may also offer information and advice. This in itself may help the caller to resolve their difficulty.

 

The worker will assist in any appropriate way to help find an immediate solution to the problem. If required, they will liaise with other services such as Housing, Emergency Social Work Service, the Mental Health Crisis Service etc. If appropriate, the caller may come into the Centre during the relevant opening hours to receive face-to-face support.

 

The worker may pass on details of the contact the following day to relevant agencies as necessary and possibly follow up directly with the person seeking assistance.

 

 

WHAT THE SERVICE DOES NOT PROVIDE

 

This service is not an anonymous helpline and will not be available to anyone under the influence of drugs/alcohol.

Saturday    11.00am - 3.00pm

The main aim of Midlothian in Mind (the Midlothian Mental Health Development Project) is to work with service users and providers to increase the provision of services in Midlothian.

Remember, we need you to let us know what service you would find helpful. We also need you to let people know about Midlothian in Mind to make sure that everyone who wants to has the chance to have their say.
