Men In Mind is a mental health project for black and
minority ethnic men. The project aims to develop mental
health support services, and to raise awareness of mental
health issues amongst black and minority ethnic men
through a programme of events and activities:
One to One Support
We have a number of support workers with different
ethnic language skills who are able to provide short-term,
one-to-one support. The principal aim of this support
is to encourage people to access MIM and other mental
health services.
Open Drop-In
We run an open drop-in every Wednesday, 1-4pm at 4
Duncan Place (top floor) Edinburgh. Facilities include
a pool table, table tennis, music, play station, board
games, and tea and coffee.
A worker is always on hand if someone would prefer
to just have a chat. We also run social events which
provide an evening of music, entertainment and fun!
Educational Programmes
The project runs a series of workshops/activities with
other organisations to raise awareness of mental health
issues amongst black and minority ethnic men.
Men In Mind Forum
The project runs a forum every two months where black
and minority ethnic men are able to come together to
discuss mental health issues, and how Men In Mind and
other services can best meet their needs.
health
in mind's Information
and Resource Centre includes a specialist section
on the mental health needs of black and minority ethnic
men.
