OASIS WOMENS SUPPORT

Oasis is a project for women from the South Edinburgh area who have mental health difficulties and/or who are survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

What Do We Offer

In a safe and friendly environment, Oasis workers provide a free and confidential service. The service includes practical and emotional support in theraputic group settings as well as on a one-to-one basis, access to information and resources, an activity group, "The New Me" confidence building course, and a drop-in.

Therapeutic Group

These will run 3 times a year and consist of a 12 week programme looking at issue based work. The emphasis will be on working through complex issues in order to develop constructive coping mechanisms with the aim of making everyday life easier to cope with.

One To One Support

This is offered to assist women who may benefit from support to deal with difficult issues and where group work is not appropriate.

The New Me

This is an 8 to 10 week course which encourages women to look at issues relating to self-esteem, confidence and assertiveness.

Drop-In

We offer a drop-in once a week for women attending any of the Oasis services. The emphasis of this is on the women supporting each other and recogising of their own experience and expertise in issues relating to mental health.

Home Visiting

This is a possibility, but will depend on each person's needs and our resources at the time.

Childcare

It is possible to receive some help and support with childcare in order to attend our services.
