Volunteer Services

..making the difference

health in mind offers a wide range of exciting and challenging volunteer roles. Volunteers play a vital role in health in mind, working along side staff to deliver services and managing services through membership on the Board of Directors and other working parties. Examples of the activities that our volunteers get involved with include: Health Walks, Office and Administration, Life Skills Group Work, Befriending and Information Resource

We value volunteers for the diversity and skills they bring and for the contribution they make. Volunteering can mean helping people but it is also an exchange. You offer your time, experience and skills and in return we can offer you the opportunity to take part in quality training, to learn new skills, build up your confidence and meet new people.

If you would like to volunteer with any of our services please either contact us for more information or click on the links.

Frequently asked questions:

Will I be interviewed?
You will have an informal interview. This interview gives both you and the organisation a chance to assess whether it would be appropriate for you to volunteer.

You will also be asked to complete an application form and nominate two people who could act as referees for you. For certain roles within health in mind, you will be asked to complete a Disclosure (police check).

Can I get my expenses paid while volunteering?
Yes, we will cover any out of pocket expenses that arise from volunteering.

How much time do I need to volunteer?
This is really up to you. However, each volunteer role has different time commitments.

If I’m working full time, can I still volunteer?
Yes, there are opportunities to volunteers in the evening and on weekends.

Will I get training?
You will receive training appropriate to your role within the organisation. You will also receive ongoing support and development though further training and supervision.

Can I claim benefits while volunteering?
Yes you can. For detailed and up to date information, please contact your local volunteer centre or job centre.
